TOPS National Team Members

Camryn McPherson has qualified to the TOPS National Team.  Camryn is 10 years old and has been selected for the “A” Team.  Leah Clapper has also qualified to the TOPS National Team.  Leah is 9 years old and has qualified to the “B” Team.  Both girls went to Kayroli’s Ranch in Houston Texas and competed skills and physical abilities along with 100 gymnasts in their age group.  The top gymnasts in the country were selected to the National Team.  Both girls will be returning to the Ranch in December for training.  Congratulations Camyrn and Leah!


Brian Zook wins Michigan Coach of the Year Award

Congratulations to Gym America’s Coach Brian Zook for winning the 2009 Michigan Male Compulsory Coach of the Year.  Brian has been recognized for his outstanding work by the State of Michigan’s Coaches and Judges.


Eddie Umphrey Qualifies to USA Championships

Eddie Umphrey (Gym America’s coaching staff) competed in the Elite Qualifying meet at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.  Eddie hit 5 for 5 events qualifying him to compete in August at the VISA USA Championships.


Best Gymnastics School in Washtenaw County

Gym America was recently voted “Best Gymnastics School in Washtenaw County” in the Ann Arbor Family Magazine “Family Favorites 2008”. Thanks for your vote!

Gym America “Gym Stars” Rock at States!

Congratulations to our Level 8 Team for their incredible performances at the State Meet. The girls have been working hard as a team and each individual stepped it up for a true team effort. The entire team qualified to Level 8 Regionals!

Gym America “Gym Stars” receive full-ride scholarship.

Congratulations to Sam Heydlauff for earning a full-ride scholarship to Kent University.

Congratulations to Cepeda Carter for earning a full-ride scholarship to Western Michigan University.


Gym America “Gym Stars” Excel at the 2009 Wolverine Classic.

Gymstars level 4 – 8 and prep optional gymnasts competed at the 20th annual Gym America hosted Wolverine Classic Meet at Saline Middle School this past weekend. Over 37 clubs with approximately 900 gymnasts attended this national level competition, which was the largest Wolverine Classic meet to date.

Level 7 team won 1st place with a total score of 111.80.  9 level 7 gymnasts received individual honors in their age group.  Emma Kerber won all-around, floor, and beam and received 3rd place for bars.  Camryn McPherson won all-around, floor, and vault and received 2nd place on beam.  Morgan Bradford won vault, received 2nd place for all-around and floor and 3rd place for bars.  Myel Ristenbatt won bars, received 3rd place for floor and vault.   McKenzie Krohmalny received 2nd place for floor, 3rd place for all-around, beam and vault.  Amirah Anderson received 2nd place for all-around and beam. Amelia Hill received 2nd place for floor.  Darby Slater received 2nd place for bars.   Individual honors were given to Mara Santiz.

Level 4 team won 1st place with a total score of 111.40.  All gymnasts received received individual honors in their age group. Olivia McMullen won for all-around, beam, and bars and received 3rd place on vault and floor. Riley Meeks won vault and received 2nd place for all-around, bars and floor.  Ling Peng won floor and received 2nd place on vault. Naya Haynes received 2nd place on beam and 3rd place on floor and bars. Seanna Muller-King received 2nd place on beam,  Ryli Harden received 3rd place on beam.  Reagan Greny received 3rd place on vault. Elise Santiz received 3rd place on vault. Individual honors were given to Emily Marvin, and Jordon Raft.

Level 8 team received 2nd place with a total score of 110.70.  9 level 8 gymnasts received individual honors in their age group.  Jacquelyn Bryden won vault and floor, and received 2nd place for all-around and beam. Taylor Helber won beam.  Olivia Ozeranic received 2nd place for floor and 3rd place for beam and all-around.  Sam Higgins received 2nd place for beam and 3rd place for all- around. Kendall Carlson received 2nd  place on floor.  Grace Broadhurst received 3rd place on bars. Kayla Bishar received 3rd place on floor.  Individual honors were given to Ruthilah Graff and Paige Wright.

“Gymstars” level 6 team received 3rd place with a total score of 107.650.  All gymnasts received individual honors in their age group.  Zoe Zimmerman won vault.  Cassidy Newburg received 2nd place for all-around, vault, and bars and 3rd place on beam. Cali Harden received 2nd place on beam.  Annie Rudisill received 2nd place on bars.  Kelsey Flanagan received 3rd place on vault.  Individual honors were given to Miranda Eberle.

Level 5 team received 4th place with a total score of 107.70.  All gymnasts received individual honors in their age group. Camille Burt won beam and received 3rd place for all-around. Claire Binguit received 3rd place on vault.  Individual honors were given to Bianca Allen,, Aleesha Bucciarelli, Leah Clapper, Shannon Egbert, Samantha Fox, Maggie Huntley, Madison Mervis and Katie Tapia.

“Gymstars” Prep Optional bronze team received 2nd place with a total score of 107.825.  Samantha Clossick won for all-around and bars and received 2nd place on beam and 3rd place on floor.  Allison Lahnala won beam and floor and received 2nd place for all-around.  Margo Killey won vault and received 3rd place on floor.  Kathleen Moriarty received 3rd place on beam.  Jessie Piette received 3rd place on bars.

Erika Meyers competed as a prep optional gold gymnast and won all-around, floor, and vault.  Mariah Tinsley competed as a prep optional silver gymnast and won floor and received 3rd place on vault.


Gym America “Gym Stars” Place at World’s Largest Women’s Gymnastics Meet!

Gym America “Gymstars” Levels 6 – 8 teams competed at the IGI Chicago Style Gymnastics Meet, the World’s Largest Artistic Women’s Gymnastic Meet, at the Navy Pier in Chicago, IL. Over 4100 female gymnasts from across the country and internationally were represented at the meet. This meet was recorded as the largest world meet with the Guiness Book of World’s Record authorities.


Level 4 Gym Stars WIN FIRST PLACE TEAM at the 2009 Winterfest Invitational.

“Gymstars” level 4 team won 1st place with a total score of 110.90. 8 gymnasts received individual honors in their age group.  3 gymnasts won the all-around in their age group. Olivia McMullen won all events (all-around, vault, bars, beam and floor) with a total score of 37.125. Ling Peng won the all-around with a total score of 36.925, beam and vault, 2nd place on floor, and 4th place on bars. Riley Meeks won the all-around and floor, 2nd place on bars and beam, and 3rd place on vault.

Seanna Mueller-King won beam, 2nd place for all-around and floor, 3rd place on bars, and 4th place on vault. Rylie Harden won vault, and 3rd place for all-around and floor. Reagan Greny received 2nd place on vault, 4th place for all-around and bars. Naya Haynes received 3rd place on beam and floor, and 4th place for the all-around. Elise Santiz received 3rd place on beam and 4th place on vault.


Gym Stars Shine at the Region 5 CUP Meet.

Gym America levels 4 – 8 competed at the Region 5 Cup Gymnastics Meet in Cincinnati, Ohio last month. Over 4000 athletes were represented at the meet from Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky.

Level 8 team won 2nd place with a total score of 107.95. 9 level 8 gymnasts received individual honors in their age group. Kayla Bishar won the all-around, 2nd place on bars, and 3rd place on vault and beam. Sam Higgins won bars and 3rd place all- around. Grace Broadhurst won floor. Ruthie Graff received 2nd place for the all-around and bars, and 3rd place on beam. Jamyra Carter received 2nd place on beam, and 3rd place on bars and all-around. Kendall Carlson received 3rd place on beam. Individuals honors were given to Olivia Ozeranic, Jacqui Bryden and Paige Wright.

Level 7 team won 2nd place with a total score of 109.85. 8 level 7 gymnasts received individual honors in their age group. Emma Kerber won for all-around, floor, and bars, 2nd place on beam, 3rd place on vault.  Erika Tapia won for all-around and bars. McKenzie Krohmalny won all-around, 2nd place on bars and vault, 3rd place on floor. Camryn McPherson won bars, 2nd place for all-around and vault, 3rd place on beam. Morgan Bradford won bars, 2nd place for all-around and floor. Darby Slater received 2nd place for all-around and bars, 3rd place on beam. Amirah Anderson received 3rd place on vault.

Individual honors were given to Bianca Allen, Claire Binguit, Aleesha Bucciarelli, Katie Tapia, and Samantha Fox.

“Gymstars” level 4 team received a total score of 106.925. Riley Meeks received 2nd place on vault and beam, 3rd place all-around. Naya Haynes received 2nd place on beam, 3rd place all-around. Ling Peng received 2nd place on floor. Olivia McMullen received 2nd place on floor. Individual honors were given to Elise Santiz, Ryli Harden, and Seanna Muller-King


Gym America “Gym Stars” sweep the field at the Co-Ed Classic!

Levels 6, 7, 8 and Prep-Opt take FIRST PLACE TEAM! The meet was a season opener held at Branch Gymnastics in Kalamazoo, Michigan. What a great start to the season!


Gym America’s Level 4’s take 1st place team.

Gym America’s Level 4’s competed in the 2009 Winterfest held in Farmington Hills, Michigan. The level 4’s swept the all-around competition winning 1st thru 4th place in the 7 yr old division. Gym America also won 2 other age groups.  All-Around Champions were Riley Meeks, Olivia McMullen & Ling Peng. 2nd place team was Twistars, 3rd place team GTC.


Camryn McPherson wins All-Around Title

Camryn competed in the NAWGJ Judges Cup at Eastern Michigan University. Camryn placed 1st on Balance Beam, 1st on Bars, 2nd on Floor, 2nd on Vault and 1st All-Around.


Riley Meeks sets TOPS National Record

Riley has set the National Record in the vertical jump. Riley is in the 7 year old division. She has also scored a perfect score in splits. Riley will compete as a Level 4 this season.


Gym America “Gym Star” Grace Broadhurst qualifies to TOPS National Testing

Grace has competed in the TOPS testing with over 3000 gymnasts from across the USA. The top 100 gymnasts have qualified to the National Testing at Bela Karolyi’s Ranch in Texas. Grace is in the 11 year-old age group.

Camryn McPherson is the alternate for the 9 year-old age group.
