TOPs
Gym America offers the USA Gymnastics “TOPs” (Talent Opportunity Program) program to gifted female gymnasts, ages 7 to 11, who train in our competitive program Levels 4 through 10. Each year we test the physical, mental and emotional development of our athletes to make sure we are providing the challenges and opportunities they are ready for. The athletes are selected to participate by their instructors and have additional trainings added to their schedules to allow for intensive training in strength and flexibility.
Congratulations to our 2009 TOPS National Team Members, Camyrn McPherson and Leah Clapper. Camryn and Leah both traveled to Houston, Texas and competed at Bella Karolyi’s Ranch. They were among the 100 top gymnasts in their age groups in the country. The girls tested skills and physical abilities for two days. The top 25 gymnasts in each of these age groups qualified to the National Team. We are very excited to announce that both Camryn and Leah qualified to the TOPS National Team. Camryn is 10-years-old and is on the “A” Team, and Leah is 9 years-old and is on the “B” Team.
Gym America congratulates Riley Meeks. Riley has set the National Record in the vertical jump in 2008 as a 7 year old.
2010 TOPS National Testing qualifiers are Camyrn McPherson, Leah Clapper and Camille Burt. The girls will travel to the Ranch in Houston for National Testing. Congratulations and good luck girls!
